A Possible Break in the Natalee Holloway Case

A jawbone believed to be human was found Friday, November 12 on the beach near a hotel in Aruba.  Dutch forensic experts are testing the bone to determine if it belonged to a missing American teenager, Natalee Holloway.

The main suspect in the Holloway case, Joran van der Sloot, mentioned a location near the hotel to police during the time of Holloway’s disappearance.

Natalee Holloway went missing while on a graduation trip to Aruba back in May 2005.  She was last seen leaving a local nightclub with three young local men including Van der Sloot.  There were several suspects in the case, but no one was ever convicted of Holloway’s disappearance.  Despite several searches of the island by family, friends, and police her body was never found.

Joran van der Sloot has admitted several times that he played a part in Holloway’s disappearance, and later retracted his confession.  Aruban police do not have enough evidence to charge Van der Sloot with Holloway’s disappearance.

Van der Sloot is currently in prison in Peru awaiting trial for murdering a Peruvian woman, Stephany Flores.
