Party in Paris’ Purse
Paris Hilton was arrested again on Friday, August 27, 2010 in Nevada. According to the police report, Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits’ SUV was pulled over because the officer smelled marijuana. When Hilton’s purse was searched a police officer found cocaine. When the officer asked, ‘Whose cocaine is it?’ Hilton responded that ‘she thought it was chewing gum’ and denied that the purse belonged to her.
Hilton is being charged with felony drug possession. Both federal and state laws prohibit the possession of any illegal controlled substance. This includes cocaine, marijuana, LSD, heroine, or methamphetamines. The severity of the crime depends on the type of controlled substance and the state in which the crime was committed.
In Nevada, felony drug possession can result in up to four years of incarceration. The most likely scenario, if convicted, Hilton could be sent to drug counseling or be placed on probation.
This is the second time this year Hilton has been arrested for drug charges. She recently was arrested in South Africa for alleged marijuana use. The charges have since been dropped.
Hilton has also been arrested and convicted of reckless driving while under the influence of alcohol and served time in jail back in 2007.
Hilton’s arraignment date regarding this case is set for October 27, 2010.
